HARVEY TAYLOR

Biography

Graduated from Winchester School of Art in 1993 and then moved to Colchester in 1997 to teach art at the Sixth Form College. My painting has evolved from abstract paintings to more exact realist work.

My 'superrealist' paintings are concerned with the process of painting and breaking the whole down into small parts. The image I work from is a map that is scrutinised and closely transcribed onto a larger scale. Through the process of unpicking the image a new painting evolves. Current work is investigating the wooded area near my studio. Up close the painting is a mass of intense marks but from afar the image snaps into view.

Work for sale is on Saatchi Art and Kath&Company

I am part of this group, Contemporary British Painting. My work is also in the Priseman Seabrook collection - http://www.priseman-seabrook.org

My work is part of Kath and Company's Art at Home initiative.
